The Fighter Tree
for cancer research

When someone passes away, it’s not uncommon for family and friends to plant a tree in their memory.

What if we could use this kind act to help fight the cause of so many deaths worldwide?

That’s the inspiration behind The Fighter Tree – A unique species of tree that will act as an everlasting beacon of hope for a future without cancer.

Working with botanists, we’ll propagate a unique species of tree that will only be planted to support cancer fundraising efforts, such as when someone leaves a bequest to a cancer charity or makes a significant donation in memory of a loved one who has passed.

Depending on what’s botanically possible, we’ll give the new tree characteristics that align with our cancer-fighting message.

The tree’s bark will be covered with spots and markings that resemble those you should look out for on your skin.

It’ll have thick foliage and a large canopy that will create large amounts of shade to help protect people from the sun.

The roots will spread close to the surface and resemble those of a cancer.

The initiative will be supported by an AR experience that recognises our trees in nature and links to the lifesaving research being supported by that tree.

This thought is still looking for a home (or a place to put down roots), but once it finds it, there’s the potential to help the lives of the millions impacted by cancer each year.

The tree’s botanical name will be chosen to represent the strength of cancer patients, or honour leaders in the research field.

Once propagated, the tree will be planted at the National Arboretum in Canberra + seeds will be stored at the Tasmanian Seed Conservation Centre.
